FT Strategies is proud to have contributed to The Media Viability Manifesto (MVM) - an essential resource for organisations looking to tackle the economic crisis facing journalism and the free press.
To address this crisis, the media support sector has collaborated to advocate for systematic changes in how journalism is funded and supported.
The Media Viability Manifesto provides a common framework for joint action for anyone aiming to strengthen independent media, offering:
- A joint definition of media viability
- A joint Theory of Change for media viability
- A typology of existing media viability tools and approaches
With that, the Media Viability Manifesto paves the way for:
- More conceptual clarity, systematic exchange and learning
- More strategic and coordinated collaboration between multiple actors
- Better aligned practical implementation in the field of media viability
We invite you to join the MVM community and use this new framework for more effective, united efforts for global media viability.
The Media Viability Manifesto was collaboratively developed by 13 media development organisations: DW Akademie, IMS (International Media Support), UNESCO, Free Press Unlimited, Center for International Media Assistance, Global Forum for Media Development (GFMD), FT Strategies, BBC Media Action, Internews, SembraMedia, IREX, Fondation Hirondelle - Media for peace and human dignity and International Center for Journalists (ICFJ).
