Situation
The programme is designed for publishers who are looking to explore diversified digital reader-revenue models, testing towards these with an ambitious and galvanising reader-revenue goal in mind. The cohort of eight publishers covered three countries across Southeast Asia. The publishers varied by organisation size, maturity of existing reader-revenue models, and addressable audiences.
Engagement
- FT Strategies supported each of the publishers in developing their North Star strategy through an experimentation roadmap and detailed capabilities analysis.
- Each publisher launched a reader survey for their existing audiences across platforms using a standardized question set.
Results
- Publishers were overwhelmingly satisfied with the programme, scoring it 4.9 out of 5.
- The programme allowed publishers to critically assess their organisation’s capabilities in terms of technology, talent and processes, identifying areas of existing strength and opportunity points to prioritise as they each sought to accelerate towards a cohesive and sustainable reader-revenue model.
- Participants spoke highly of the experimentation methodology presented by FT Strategies; many commented on the clarity of the approach to prioritising new ideas and felt that it was clear how this would cultivate a wide range of new ideas
"We will certainly revisit the programme materials as we look to develop strategies to target certain audience segments. Thank you for sharing them - it has been invaluable for us to have an outside view that helps us now see clearly what we have been looking for all along.”
